Abstract and introduction read on the publisher's page (online 2022, volume dated 15 January 2023). A PTFE thermal-osmosis unit produces pressurised fresh water on the confined cold side; the pressure-driven flow passes through the microchannels of an electrokinetic module, whose streaming potential is the electrical output: 18.46 kg m⁻² h⁻¹ of fresh water and 1.12 W m⁻² of output power density obtained simultaneously at a temperature difference of 50 °C; real seawater feed; the 1.0 μm PTFE membrane performed best. The authors chose the electrokinetic module because their unit could not sustain the continuous pressurised flow a turbine needs.
