Radioluminescent (beta-photovoltaic) nuclear battery

A β⁻ emitter (⁶³Ni) excites a phosphor (ZnS:Cu,Al) whose radioluminescence is converted by a spectrally matched InGaP photovoltaic cell (Russo et al. 2017: 3.35 nW cm⁻², 0.289 % total conversion efficiency in the volumetric configuration).
