Evaporation
Water leaves a wet surface into unsaturated air, absorbing latent heat and sustaining capillary flow through the material behind it. The atmosphere's humidity deficit drives the flow.

Relations
- evaporation from a porous surface sustains capillary flow behind it
- hygroscopic spores or films that swell and shrink with humidity, driving a piston or oscillator
Matrix context
D = disequilibrium row · C = coupling family column. A cell reads the state of the atlas for that pair.
