Abstract read on the publisher's page. Thermally stabilised electrospun PAN nanofibre membranes convert sound into electricity piezoelectrically up to 450 °C: under mono-frequency sound (118 dB, 230 Hz) a 3 × 3 cm² device gives 118 V open-circuit and 12 μA short-circuit (392 mW m⁻²); driven in situ by a mini thermoacoustic engine, with the device at 280 °C, peak outputs of 102 V and 10 μA ran 30 LEDs and charged a lithium battery and a capacitor, stable for at least 2 h. The authors' word 'acoustoelectric' names piezoelectric acoustic-to-electric conversion, not Weinreich carrier drag.
