Magnetocaloric effect
Magnetising a paramagnet or ferromagnet adiabatically raises its temperature; demagnetising lowers it. The entropy of the spin system is exchanged with the lattice.

Relations
- adiabatic magnetisation or demagnetisation of a material near its ordering temperature
- a regenerative cycle rejecting heat during magnetisation and absorbing it during demagnetisation
Matrix context
D = disequilibrium row · C = coupling family column. A cell reads the state of the atlas for that pair.
