Gas-dynamic expansion
A pressurised gas expands through a nozzle or duct, converting part of its enthalpy and pressure availability into directed bulk kinetic flow. Not the working-fluid expansion of a heat-engine cycle, whose output is shaft work against a piston or turbine — the output here is a moving gas.

Relations
- the gas has an upstream pressure state above the downstream nozzle or duct pressure
- a directed high-speed gas stream leaves the nozzle — the disequilibrium whose content is bulk fluid motion
- the thermomechanical family: enthalpy and pressure availability to directed kinetic energy, with no cycle and no shaft
Matrix context
D = disequilibrium row · C = coupling family column. A cell reads the state of the atlas for that pair.
